Every journey has a starting point. How you start that journey can often determine your success overall and your career is no different. In the beginning, there were 3 big mistakes that I made that slowed down my progress as a junior developer. I want to share those with you so that you don’t fall into the same traps. By no means are these in order of significance.

Thinking the only path was college or bootcamp

If I had to list one of the mistakes that were the number one on the list, this might be it. The landscape of coding is riddled with people (myself included) that think that the only way to get into the computer science field is by spending tens of thousands of dollars on education. This is so far from the truth and I would like to share some resources you can use as an alternative.

Free Code Camp

Free code camp is one of the OGs of computer science self-education. Like the name implies, it’s free. Free doesn’t mean you aren’t getting a premium experience. The lessons are interactive and engaging, so it won’t feel like you’re slogging along on a difficult subject like coding.
